Racehorse Retraining
With our horse racing industry background we are familiar with the tough training some Thoroughbreds have undergone and how hard it can be to settle them in to a new riding career and a life out of racing!
We offer a service to help bring on your ex-racehorse whether it be for a general riding horse or you are looking to be competing in the many RoR competitions now available to ex-racers!
We provide 7 day full care, a retraining plan is made to suit every individual horses needs.
Training sessions provided for both horses and owners
Competition Livery
Mills Stables offer a competition livery for ex Racehorses.
Amanda and Matthew will produce your ex Racer and compete them for you in their chosen disciplines.
This is a package that suits a lot of owners including those who still own their Racehorses from when they were in Training and want to continue to support them and see them excel in their new careers after racing!
It doesn't matter if your horse finishes their racing career at 3 or 15, if they are sound, fit and happy why not carry on supporting your horse in the next chapter of their lives and come and watch them compete around the country in their chosen disciplines.
Mills Stables Team of horses compete successfully in all RoR and Affiliated classes including Dressage, Eventing, Showing and Jumping.
Retirement Livery
Mills Stables has 60 acres of fields and smaller paddocks.
All the fields are surrounded by hedges providing shelter from the weather conditions all year round.
Horses on retirement livery with Mills Stables get to live in a friendly herd in the fabulous fields ranging from 5 acres to 20 acres.
All horses have at least twice daily checks, rugs changed to suit the weather, handling for vets and farriers, regular worming.
Part Livery and Full Livery
7 days full care includes:
Dodson and Horrell feed, hay and straw
Turning out, bringing in, basic groom, rug changes, mucking out and skipping out.
Exercise on the horse walker if required ( week days only )
Assistance for Vets and Farriers
Late checks
Full Livery
: As part livery but exercise and tack cleaning included. Prices depending on how much exercise is required, ridden or lunging.
Full Livery packages are tailored to suit
the needs of each individual and can be changed each week if required.
Pretraining
Mills Stables will often have spaces available for horses for pretraining.
Horses can come to Mills Stables for rest or some rehab livery and then benefit from a personalised training plan.
Some horses just require more time to mature or correct schooling to help develop them into a stronger, healthier and happier horse ready for a life in training.
Mills Stables will work with the trainers, owners and vets to find the best training plans for each individual horse.
Improving the physical and mental condition of a horse by correct training at the start of their careers or when returning from a well deserved break in training gives them a much better chance of success out on the track!
